 Historic Images of Burlington County

This collection of images is neither perfect nor complete. Nevertheless, it is hoped that it will provide something like a window into Burlington County's past. Most of the inages are postcards. The vast majoriity of them date from between 1900 and 1930. Images from the Historic American Buildings Survey and the NJ Archives date, mostly, from the mid 1930s. With some exceptions, captions tend towards tersness, but information on this site and others may satisfy those who want more information.

It should be noted that while the bulk of the images here were downloaded from a popular auction site, there are some importsnt exceptions. First are the the images mirrored from the NJ archives(Department of State) website which are identified by the letters NJA at the end of the caption and the Historic American Building survey images from the Library of Congress which are identified by the letters HABS. Also, The Bass River section is helped with images courtesy of Pete Stemmer, The Rancocas section by images from Rancocas.org and the Southampton section by images from the Southampton Historic Preservation Committee and the Southampton Historical Society. Also, the contributions of Pete Yearly enhanced the Riverside section. Finally, a number of images appear courtesy of Paul W. Schopp, whose encouragement has been invaluable to this effort. If you have historic images of the county that you'd like to share - please let me know.
